Taking it easy on the 1st week~

Ahh, the joy of the 1st week of the new semester... where the general mood is to take things easy, and YET some of the lecturers have already piled us up with assignments and lectures.

Currently, I'm in the process of writing my final year proposal, as well as compiling the data I've collected during the last fieldwork mentioned in a few posts back. It's not a really tough work, but with my lazy procrastinating self, things might take a bad turn if I'm taking it too easy...

Well, let's disregard about uni life for a bit shall we?

I've just played through Touhou Koumajou Densetsu (the first one - 'cause I'm such a Slowbro). I've gotten the game through unorthodox method (coughmediafirecough) so I think there's a bit of problem with the program.

At first I could play the game in English just fine, but after I Cirnoed and tried to open the Japanese application, I found out that the game refuse to open in English (nor French) anymore. The error message was #1 Error or something, followed with some gibberish text (which is supposed to be moonrunes, but my laptop is not set to Japanese). Selecting Japanese as the language (for the game, not my laptop) enabled me to play the game, but the text all come out as ???

That small problem aside, I thought that the game was alright. Not too bad, but I don't think I'll be playing this game for too much (right now I'm not that tempted to pick up Koumajou Densetsu II - anyone wanna persuade me?) Played on Easy Mode (hahaha) last night until 2 AM, and managed to cleared it this evening when I got back from class.

The music in the game was just alright I guess, but I liked the alternate costume of the characters. And don't forget that these appeared in the last anime convention that I went to!

Last night, I also watched The End of Evangelion and Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone, after I had just rewatch the series a few weeks back (the last time I watched the series was about 3-4 years ago, whereas I have not watched the movies prior). I actually gotten Eva 2.22 from my friend, but for some reason, my external would not copy the file (hi FAT32 & 6 GB Bluray movie file, grrrr)

The reason why I decided to rewatch the series

Anyway, it's great to watch these mindscrew shows once in a while. Right now I'm tempted to watch Serial Experiments Lain again...

Oh, and speaking of music, I've been downloading some Touhou arrangement lately. After going through CROW'SCLAW From The Bottom Of The Heart and Iron Attack!'s Poltergeist, I went to look for some other album which CROW'SCLAW have contributed (yeapp, I'm a big fan of them). More on them later, if I have the time.

Right, so much for a filler post. In the next post, I'm going to write on Touhou music, in which I shall enlist the help of you fellow bloggers (ain't this shady sounding...)

How is everyone else doing?

  2. A final-year proposal, eh. Is that like a big report? I hope it goes well for you.

    >Last night, I also watched The End of Evangelion and Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone.

    Aw yeah. For the first half of You Are (Not) Alone I didn't think it was anything GREAT since it seemed to be a shot-for-shot remake only with new animation. But the exhilarating final scene won me over.

    >How is everyone else doing?

    Can't complain really, since I'm on break from uni. A little ronery, watching unfunny Letterman ._.

    Take it easy~

  3. Your OS language has to be set in the language you are trying to play Koumajou Densetsu in. So English OS = English text working, but not any other.

    Koumajou Densetsu II is more the less the same, but with professional voice actors and tweaked game play. The English patch isn't out yet so you can always wait to play it later.

    I recently rewatched Lain because of the blu-ray release. Take it easy~

  4. @ZoiDieCT: I'm not much of a gamer myself, so I feel you there

    btw I checked out Sungei Wang's Suncomic... and the Touhou artbook is no longer there! Alas...

    @Chiyo's Dad: Yup, it's one big report we're supposed to finish in order for us to graduate.

    Yeah, I was thinking of the same thing when I was watching the movie too. The animation is definitely an improvement over the series. I'm interested to know how the story will go in the 2nd movie - if only I could put the movie in my hard disc...

    @Djoni: Thanks

    @Cap'n: I guess I'll tweak with my OS language a bit, just to see the Japanese text as it is (even if I'm illiterate when it comes to reading them moonrunes)

    Oh, Lain gets a blu-ray release? I'd like to watch that...

  5. Ah, forgot to mention. Rename the Koumajou Densetsu folder to something that isn't in moonrunes. That might be the reason the English exe isn't working.

  8. @Cap'n: Doing just that enabled me to play the game in English, so thanks!

    @Chiyo's Dad: I know right? ._.

    @ImmaFrog: Yeah, our school/uni terms starts differently from the rest of the world. At least, it's different from the ones in the West...
