Some further thoughts on crossplaying

A follow up to the post I've written way back, with a few more things to comment after some experience and observations.

Sense of self control

I ain't even mad!

Isn't it sad how easy we are to lose our self control over the tiny space that is between the keyboard, and the internet?

One day we're gonna look back and realize how stupid we were to act like jerks there, and how insensitive we are with our words. How we forget that others can be hurt by those little act of insensitivity.

On being miserable

You know, with my recent attachment to Twitter, I find it hardly necessary to ramble around here. And then there's Fagbook. We know the drill...

Social networking is a big vacuum. It really is. Even more so if you're a self-professed procrastinator, ahah.

But man, I really miss blogging around here. Even if it's not much. I also missed reading all those blog posts. Now, let's try and get back into the groove shall we?

So, being miserable. It is a perhaps weird subject for me to comment on it, seeing that I'm more or less involved with it now and then. But in my moments of calmness, I then wondered why I spend that much time - and energy - on staying that way. It left me spent, really.

And it becomes such a way that the longer you stay in there, it becomes a feedback - you make the feeling grow.

But then, it's a normal part of being what we are. We have our days of high and low. But self depreciation goes a long way in making it no better. But, really, I don't know; this feature has been long ingrained in myself that I now have to make an extra effort NOT to think of myself in such a light. Because it's been eating me from inside, having storing it for so long. No kidding.

This is not by any means a new revelation. It's just at times I thought, 'why do I act in such ways when I could be the other way around?'. Not as radical as not being true to yourself, mind. It's just for my own betterment. Feel good and all that. Hey, being a pessimists doesn't necessarily mean being in suffering... does it?

Anyway, as I've said, everyone has their days. Don't let them get the better of you tho. Stay cool! Also, have a Patche~

I'll get back to blogging soon. Take it easy, blogosphere!

My thoughts on crossplaying

What are the similarities between crossplaying and heavy metal music?

My answer is:

-Both are stereotyped and easily dismissed by the public
-Controversial
-People outside the scene just don't get it
-The proponents and fans could easily get too carried away
-There's a surprisingly strong circles and communities for both scenes
-I don't know the exact words in English, but in Bahasa Malaysia, we call them 'bajet ganas' - the rough translation would be the projection of an image to scare or disgust the public, whereas their actual personalities are the exact opposite
-To the principal upholders, it is awesome

Mandatory Ramadhan post (2011 ver) / How am I blogging?

As with last year, I'll just write this post to dedicate to the fasting month of the Muslim calendar.

I'm scared now (like a confused teenager, raging at the world/like a tired man, disconted at the world)

I don't know what the hell is going on with my life. I have been so uncertain, so confused, so... scared at what is going around right now (or rather, what is to come). And when I think about it, I'm too old to pass as a rebellious teen, nor am I too old to be a disgruntled man that seen all the worst that life could pass.

This is going to put off many people (hell, as if my usual ranting posts weren't enough - I am so sorry that this place have to step so low and become a bitching hole for me), but some things I just wanted to let it out. Besides, I need to clear my mind of all these negativity in preparation for next month.

So, urm, what's my face reaction at this point, I wonder. Like a man about to pour forth some sort of confession? An apathetic face? So frustrated that I wanted to cry?

Heavens know why I can't flip on the ignorant-is-bliss switch in my mind...

Incidentally, I got a Koishi for this random quiz on EX Stage Touhou characters. I thought it'd make a nice filler here, heh.

Just feelin' the monday blues

You know one thing I quite hate?

It's when people ignore you/don't give to hoots about you - when you say something to them, I mean.

Because it makes me think of two things:

1) Am I not making it clear that I except some sort of reaction/feedback from the other party?
2) The other person don't care about me at all.

Can I play with madness?

Ever had that time where you woke up in the morning, and you just sit there at your bed for a couple of minutes, thinking... what have you done so far through this point of your life. Thinking... about what the distant future have in store with you. And then, you think some more about this over breakfast.

In fact, you might then engage yourself in yet another dreary routine of the day, pretending that it is not something that is worth pursuing your thought. But, without realizing it, that thought is still there, nagging at the back of your mind.

He's dead

"Osama's Death Will Ensure A More Peaceful And Safe World "
- Comment from a certain local politician

Seriously?

So by now probably half of the people across the globe is celebrating for the death of Osama, with a small number doing the opposite, lamenting the loss of 'freedom fighter', 'defender of faith', 'global Islamic fighter', or whatever (yes, we get some of the latter here too).

As for me? I couldn't care less. I never approved of his modus operandi - and his own view that he's godsend - so naturally I wasn't moved when the news came in. Rather, what gets me instead is how most people are quick to jump into the bandwagon and say, "finally, that terrorizing bastard is dead!", thinking that removing this guy out of the picture would solve the problem that's going on right now. Well, do you think that REALLY make the world more peaceful and safe? You don't think another Osama will rise up somewhere (or rather, we will 'create' another one), and another bloody cycle begins anew?

And you keep voicing out against terrorism - but what about the other more serious shit that's going on?At this rate, I think hunger, overpopulation, and pollution will get to us before terrorism does - but this is not the place for me to discuss that. At least, not yet.

Well, I'm honestly quite ignorant when it comes to geopolitics, so I think Needless post makes a better job at discussing this issue (the picture at the end is ace too).

Yes, I promised earlier that I won't be here until the next 2 week, but I just gotta get this thing off my chest. It has really bothered me, honestly. Hope you excuse this ranting...

'tis but a distant dream...

As for me, I'm done with another paper today - the last 2 papers won't be until next week. So off to the studying table I go...

How's everyone else doing?

Musing and ranting on the Touhou series: the fanbase, the future, and some case studies of similar series

Title says it all.

After the last post which seems pretty much to concur with those who don't really like the series('s fanbase), let's now take a closer look at the issue:

(Incoming wall of text below: this will be partly ranting, partly serious discussion, and contain items which only the Touhou fans could understand/would care to read)

ZUN speaks

I'm sure by now most people are aware of the announce by ZUN on his blog about new guidelines for derived Touhou work (or, if you can't read moonrunes, you might have read it from here)

EDIT: After reading more comments on the issue, I am further in agreement that the western fanbase can be quite terrible at times (or would you say most of the time?). I'll be honest guys, sometimes the fans do get on my nerves...

What ringgit and sens meant to a certain middlegrounder

Don't be fooled by the apparently thought provoking title.

So... I've been looking at the figures they were going to release at Wonfest 11. And my reaction... could be perfectly summed up by this series of pic:

I'm exaggerating (but not by much)

Yeah, I'm a madman~

Keeping true to yourself

Incoming wall of text where I whine as usual

Truthfully, it's not that I'm particularly enjoying this, but at the very least, I thought I'd write it down than just letting it bottle up before it explode... right?

Let's sit down and listen to me whine, peeps

Wallpaper post, rants, CF

Since everyone is posting their wallpaper, I figured that I'll do the same as well.

You may laugh for 3 minutes:

Passion, opinion, writing

At the very least, stick around for some extras at the end. We got porn, yayy :V

I got my fix

As of around 7 PM, the wireless connection of my residential college is up and running again.

While it is true that I do get internet connection in the last few days (with the base at a top secret location), it is just not the same with accessing the net from my own room.

I hope they won't cut off the net so soon - it has been more than 3 weeks since we've gotten the wifi here. Bleh, good thing they didn't cut the water as well.

Yeah, yeah, I'm an internet addict, I admit it. Oh, and this college totally SUCKS. BIG TIME.

I'm done here ranting. Next post will be coming up very soon - look forward to it =D

Things on the internet that make you want to facepalm

Well, if one were to make a list of said things, the list could be quite big - or small, if you're thickheaded (like the ones who do those things in the first place)

I brought this topic up because of this rather famous e-mail that one of my Facebook contact posted in his wall:

Music the great communicator

Co-incidentally, there were some talk of musicians in some other blogs that I'm watching, so the timing for this post is... I dunno, good?

Anyway, I figured that after my rambling on anime watching, I'd talk a bit on my music listening. Bear with me as I go on for a bit of rambling...

My brother once described my music taste as 'indie'. He was of course not really comparing my choice of musicians to that of the so-called 'indie musicians' - what he was merely pointing out was that I listen to many different genre of music - with some genre that is even rather hard to pinpoint.

On internet: use your HEAD

It's near 2 AM, and I've just signed out of the mail after doing some last minute e-mailing. I then found this rather amusing article, which involves marriage and Facebook.

Marriage and Facebook? Doesn't sound too good, right?

Dread of the unknown hung in the air as Lynn France typed two words into the search box on Facebook: the name of the woman with whom she believed her husband was having an affair.

Click. And there it was, the stuff of nightmares for any spouse, cuckolded or not. Wedding photos. At Walt Disney World, no less, featuring her husband literally dressed as Prince Charming. His new wife, a pretty blonde, was a glowing Sleeping Beauty, surrounded by footmen.
